The Department regularly organizes a wide range of academic, co-curricular, and outreach activities that enrich students' learning beyond the classroom and provide exposure to contemporary developments in tourism, heritage, hospitality, and allied disciplines.

Every year, the Department commemorates important occasions such as World Tourism Day and International Tiger Day through lectures, student presentations, competitions, awareness programmes, and interactive activities. The Department also organizes memorial lectures, special lectures, seminars, workshops, and events as part of the Karnatak University Diamond Jubilee Celebrations and other academic initiatives.

The Department has successfully organized national seminars and workshops on themes related to tourism, heritage, and culture, including a National Painters' Workshop and National Seminar on Pattadakal – a World Heritage Site (2008) and a Two-Day National Seminar on "Tourism Spectrum" (2018) in collaboration with Indira Gandhi National Tribal University, Amarkantak. These programmes have brought together eminent academicians, researchers, and professionals from across the country. To strengthen industry-academia collaboration and enhance student employability, the Department has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with leading hotels and travel companies in Hubballi–Dharwad, facilitating internships, industrial training, and placement opportunities for students. The Department also conducts workshops, personality development programmes, career guidance sessions, and skill-development activities on a regular basis to nurture students' professional and personal growth.

Special lectures by eminent academicians and industry experts form an integral part of the Department's academic calendar. Distinguished speakers, including Dr. Vishweshwirah, Smt. Poornima Srikrishna, Dr. B. G. Mulimani, Dr. S. V. Padigar, Dr. S. Vinay, Dr. A. Sundara, Sri Vinay Luthra, Sri S.
