EU Project - SacredTravels4Growth
The Department of Tourism Studies, Karnatak Arts College, Karnatak University, Dharwad, is proud to be a consortium partner in SacredTravels4Growth – Higher Education and Sustainable Growth through Religious Tourism, an international project funded by the European Union under the Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education (CBHE) programme.
Running from November 2025 to October 2028, the project brings together 16 partner institutions from eight countries—Albania, India, Spain, Greece, Slovenia, Moldova, Malta, and South Africa—to strengthen higher education through innovation in religious tourism, cultural heritage, and sustainable regional development. The consortium is coordinated by LOGOS University College, Albania, with Banaras Hindu University and Karnatak University representing India.
As an active consortium partner, the Department of Tourism Studies contributes to curriculum development, international research, faculty development, capacity-building initiatives, and collaborative academic activities. The project also supports the development of innovative teaching and learning resources, Religious Tourism Laboratories, digital educational content, and international knowledge exchange. Faculty members and students will benefit from international training programmes, study visits, workshops, and collaborative research opportunities hosted by partner institutions across Europe, Africa, and Asia. These engagements are designed to promote global academic collaboration, enhance professional competencies, and strengthen education and research in sustainable religious tourism.
Through its participation in SacredTravels4Growth, the Department reaffirms its commitment to academic excellence, internationalisation, sustainable tourism, heritage conservation, and preparing future tourism professionals for an increasingly interconnected world.
